Rochard Crags

Rochard Crags – Click here to view the topo

IMAG0135Set near the very head of the Washburn Valley, near the eerie Blow Tarn, Rochard Crags feel remote to say the least. The climbs tend to be short, but generally pack a lot of climbing into a small height – few are give-aways and most are rather technical. The rock is simply excellent, amongst the nicest found in the Barden Fell vicinity, and the walk in is not a lung-buster, since the parking is set a fair distance above the valley floor.

Climbers operating in the higher grades (7C+ and up) should not miss the glaring omission of the Cement Pond Block’s unclimbed nose. A patio has been built in the pool so it is now possible to try this without a splashdown!

This topo is set to print A5 – select landscape and 2 pages per sheet.
