  1. Hello! I’m staying in the Malhamdale area (Airton) in the next few days and was made up to see you had recently been exploring and mapping it! I know you have a dedicated page for this, but wanted to ask in case you know of people/shops to hire crash pads from in the area?

  2. I think your nearest would be Alpkit in Ilkley. Best calling ahead to check they still offer this service.

      1. Hi John. Alpkit worked! I went up to Haw Crag and Chapel Cave Crag with it. As I was going alone with a single mat, Haw Crag was a bit desperate with the uneven ground below boulders (and some newly grown nettles just below!). But Chapel Cave was beautiful, and had a great time working out the lines from the topos. Definitely some more stuff to uncover there I reckon. Anyway, was super happy to find this blog while in the Dales for a few days – first time bouldering in the place I grew up!

  3. Hi Harry,

I am glad that you had a good time. Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe we will bump into each other next time you are in the area.

    All the best,

    John
